Certification, because a device that ends up beside a child’s bed is read carefully by people whose job is to read it carefully. And the Story Pack, which is not packaging — it is the thing somebody buys again, so its supply chain is the business.

It is not a role that arrives once there is something to manufacture. The decisions that set the cost are made months before the first tool is cut, and almost none of them are cheap to undo afterwards.

Somebody who has taken a consumer electronic product from a working prototype to volume, and who can name the month it slipped and what they got wrong. A paper path in your past — a printer, a label maker, an instant camera, a ticket machine — counts for a great deal, because a machine that has to move a sheet of card without jamming on a Tuesday night is a narrower discipline than hardware in general.

£90,000 to £110,000 from January 2027, and 10% to 15% equity vesting over 4 years with a 1-year cliff. There is no salary before that date: you would join as a director and a shareholder rather than an employee, and until then the equity is the whole of it.
