Nothing to buy yet, so not much to agree to

Talebrix is a trading name of McDonough Holdings, a company registered in England and Wales, number 14348383. Using this site means these terms apply between you and us. They cover the website and nothing else. If you think something here is wrong, or unfair, write to hello@talebrix.com and a person will read it — the contact form reaches the same person.

A description of a product we are making. It has not shipped, nothing has been built yet, and every price, measurement and specification on it is what we are designing to rather than a measurement of a finished thing. Any of them could still move.

Nothing on this site is an offer to sell you anything, and nothing you do on it forms a contract to buy. The books on the homepage and in the library are written examples of what Talebrix is designed to make, not photographs of anybody’s kitchen and not case studies.

Reserving leaves us your email address so we can write to you once, when the first ones are ready. That is the whole of it. It is not an order, not a deposit, not a queue position, and there is nothing to pay — reserving takes no payment details because there is no payment.

It obliges neither of us. You are not committed to buying anything, and we are not committed to selling you one: it is not built yet, and it is possible that what eventually ships is different from what is described here, or that it does not ship at all. If it does, buying one will have its own terms of sale, and you would see them before paying anything.

You can leave the list at any time by asking us. What we do with the address in the meantime is on the privacy page, and it is short.

Very little, and none of it will surprise you. There are two forms on this site and this is what using them fairly looks like.

We would like to hear whether Talebrix will do a particular thing — at this stage the answer can still change, which is why the about page asks for those questions. So it is worth being plain about what happens to one: if you send us an idea, a suggestion or a request, we may act on it, and we cannot treat it as confidential or pay you for it. If that is not what you want, do not send it. Your email address and the words you wrote are handled as the privacy page describes, and a message never adds you to the launch list.

The writing, the illustrations, the covers, the wordmark and the name Talebrix belong to us. Link to any of it, quote it, send it to somebody — that is what it is for. Do not republish it as your own, use it to sell something, or use the name or the mark in a way that suggests we are behind something we are not.

The site is here as it is. We may change what is on it, or take it down, without telling you first — a page describing an unfinished product would be worse if we could not correct it. We try to keep everything on it accurate, and we would rather be told than not, but a description of something not yet built is not a specification you should make an expensive decision on the strength of.

Nothing on this site is professional advice, and we are not liable for a loss that comes from treating it as though it were. We do not exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, because that cannot be excluded. If you are a consumer, nothing on this page affects the rights the law gives you.

We may update this page, and the date at the top is when it last changed. A change applies from the day it appears rather than backwards. There is nothing to cancel and no account to close: if you would rather we did not hold your address, ask us and it goes.

The law of England and Wales, and its courts. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your own courts, and if you are a consumer you keep the protection of the law where you live.

This page is about the website. Talebrix does not exist yet, and when it does it will need its own terms — what you are buying, what happens if it goes wrong, and who owns a book it makes. None of that is decided, and we are not going to write it in advance of deciding it. What is settled so far is on the specifications page.
