These are target launch prices, not final offers. £199 for Talebrix including material for 4 books in the box, and a Story Pack of 4 for £15 when you want to make more books. There is no subscription and nothing that expires.
What the £199 covers
One machine and 4 books, which is enough to find out whether this is a thing your house actually does before you spend anything else. If you never buy a Story Pack, you keep every printed book you have already made.
- Talebrix itself
It sits on the side, about the size of a shoebox. One button to talk to it, and a slot the book comes out of. It plugs in and stays plugged in.
- 4 books in the box
Bound rather than printed out — 148 × 210 mm portrait on 250gsm card, 26 pages, sealed along the spine. Durability will be tested before launch.
- Subscription
None, and there is no plan to add one. The printed books are yours to keep. Parent setup is separate from the child’s experience.
Then £15 for a Story Pack of 4
A Story Pack supplies material for 4 books, without limiting the characters or setting. The target pack price is £15, or £3.75 in pack material per book. Ink pricing and final contents will be confirmed before orders open.
The pack cost is not yet a confirmed all-inclusive printing cost. We are waiting for supplier pricing for card, coating and ink.
What Talebrix is actually replacing
£199 is a considered amount of money, and the honest comparison is not a book. It is the other things bought for the same reason — a craft box that gets made once and goes in the bin, an afternoon out in the rain, a tablet that buys you an hour and then an argument about giving it back.
This is the one where something comes out at the end and stays out. A month later it is still on the shelf, bent at the corner, being asked for by a name they gave it.
There is nothing to pay yet
How many get made depends on how many people ask. Joining is free. This is a launch list, not an order. Joining the list is a note of your email address and nothing else — not an order, not a deposit, and not a queue you can lose your place in.
