A story to step inside

Splash

By Ada

It starts with a little idea…

Parent“She keeps pointing at the water and saying ‘pash’. Could we have a little duck who isn’t sure about getting in? And an elephant to show him.”

Ada (child)“Pash. Pash.”

An imagined conversation between Ada, age 1, and a parent.

Duck needs a wash, but the puddle is new to him. Elephant starts with a little spray. Turn the pages to see what Duck does next.

Muddy toes

Duck had mud upon his toes. There was mud upon his nose.

The puddle

He found a puddle, cool and blue. “I want a wash. But what to do?”

A little spray

Elephant gave a little spray. A muddy spot washed clean away.

One little toe

Duck put one little toe in—slow. Then two. Then three. “Here I go.”

Splash

Splash went Duck. The water flew. Elephant made a big splash too.

In the sun

Two clean friends sat in the sun. They had a wash. They had some fun.
